Saturday 8th March - walk **** – Trimley to the River Orwell – sunny with light winds.

I had hoped to go windsurfing today with wall to wall sunshine, a good tide for Felixstowe and a moderate breeze from SE forecast but despite chicking the conditions regularly during the morning the wind failed to arrive. It’s been a really bad spell for windsurfing and I haven’t had a good month since last October, that’s over 4 months now, I have almost whtas its like to be out on the water:( So once again I did my exercises in the sunny back garden before packing a picnic and heading out about 1.15, I was hoping to park at the small fishing lakes at Trimley but they have put a gate up so only anglers can park but I managed to find a small lay-by near-by so we could walk down to the River Orwell past Loompit Lake ner Levington. We too the high path to the bench looking straight up the river, one of the best views in Suffolk! We enjoy our yummy egg sandwiches but sadly the seat is not very comfortable :( there are several people about enjoying the lovely weather, there was even a few boats out on the Orwell despite the tide being low! After lunch we walk down onto the beach and back along Loompit Lake, not many birds on there just a couple of swans and a few noisy geese! Back up the hill slowly and back to the van and home to watch the rugby, once again poor old Ipswich lose again:(
